Lohardaga- Bhandra: In the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, the voting process has started at 07 am on Monday in Lohardaga Lok Sabha seat at 07 am in 24 polling centers of Vishunpur Legislative Assembly constituency of Bhandra block and 30 centers of Lohardaga Legislative Assembly constituency, totaling 54 booths. Voting has taken place till 05 pm. In the two hours of voting till 9 o'clock, 11.8 percent voting took place. By 11 am i.e. in the first four hours, 27.1 percent voting had taken place. Till 1 pm, 43. percent voters exercised their franchise. By 3 pm, 58 percent voting had taken place. In Lohardaga Lok Sabha, 3 unique polling centers were also made in total 54 booths of two assemblies of Bhandara block. Along with special decorations, the convenience of the voters has been taken care of in these polling stations. This time, a total of 15 candidates are in the fray in Lohardaga parliamentary constituency, in which the main contest is a triangular contest between BJP's Sameer Oraon, independent candidate Chamra Linda and Congress's Sukhdev Bhagat.
Provision of wheel chairs for the elderly and disabled
In Bhandara block, arrangements for wheel chairs and autos were made in all the polling stations for elderly and disabled voters. Election Officer BDO Pratima Kumari said that wheel chairs and autos have been arranged for the convenience of disabled and senior voters in total 54 polling stations of the block. Apart from this, 3 polling stations in Vishunpur Assembly constituency were made unique booths.
Enthusiasm was seen among young, new and old voters
A lot of enthusiasm was seen among the new young voters in the Bhandara Lok Sabha elections. Hundreds of young new voters from Bedal, Masmano, Bhandara Kumhariya etc. voted for the first time. The disabled and the elderly also participated enthusiastically in democracy. 82 year old Vimala Devi reached Bhaismundo booth to vote. While Divyang Shankar Mahato reached the booth to vote in a wheel chair. 80 year old Lechva Devi also reached the polling station in Toto to cast her vote. In this way, disabled and elderly people participated in this great festival of democracy by voting in many booths.
Sun protection and water arrangements at polling stations
In view of the heat, the administration has made other arrangements including tents for protection from the sun at all the polling stations. Apart from this, there were arrangements for cold drinking water at some centres. If any voter's health deteriorated, appropriate medicines were available at the center for his first aid.
Voters upset due to EVM malfunctioning in many booths
Voters had to face problems due to EVM machines malfunctioning in many booths of the block. The EVM machine broke down after the mock poll was held in Bhaismundo unique booth number 82 of Vishunpur assembly constituency. After the EVM machine was repaired, voting could start again after one hour and twenty minutes. In the same Bedal booth number 87 and 88, voting was disrupted for 30 minutes and 10 minutes respectively due to EVM malfunction. After the EVM broke down in Soranda booth number 95, voting started half an hour late with the new EVM.
Extensive security arrangements
Extensive security arrangements were made for the Lok Sabha elections in the block. About 325 security personnel from three companies were deployed in 54 booths of the block. In which one company of Orissa Police, one company of Zap Echo 49 and one company of District Police and Home Guard jawans were included. Apart from this, CRPF bike squad was also visiting all the booths of the block and taking stock of the security. 216 polling personnel were deployed in 54 booths of the same block. Whereas there were 23 voters in reserve at the block headquarters. Whereas 30 personnel were deployed in the control room.
