India has developed extensive capabilities in the field of information and cyber security: TEPC

 

New Delhi: The Indian telecom sector has made remarkable progress in recent years. Many Indian companies are designing, manufacturing and exporting telecommunication equipment. Telecom equipment designed and manufactured in India is now exported to about 70 countries. This was said by Madhu Arora, Member (Technology), Digital Communications Commission, Department of Telecommunications, while addressing the inaugural session of the Defense Sector-related Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Conclave in New Delhi. A total of 21 companies showcased their products in the Defense Sector Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Conclave. The Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) has organized the conclave in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and Ministry of External Affairs. Madhu Arora said that India's exports have grown significantly by 35 percent and India is competing on an equal footing in terms of quality with the world's best manufacturers. He said India has installed about 4,42,000 5-G base stations in the country and about 80 percent of the equipment used to roll out 5-G service in India has been indigenously manufactured. He said India's commitment to promoting innovation and manufacturing has established it as a global leader in providing state-of-the-art reliable telecommunications systems and tailored solutions, which can be tailored to the specific needs of other countries. Arora said that we are ready for technology-related alliances to promote self-reliance in technology development. The potential of Indian telecom products to transform the defense sector of any country is immense. By utilizing cost-effectiveness, our reliable telecommunications products and expertise, a seamless communications infrastructure can be created that enables defense forces to more effectively protect national interests. Jaideep Majumdar, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, in his address said that no country can afford to lag behind in the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is playing an increasingly important role in national defence. From facilitating real-time coordination to enabling advanced data analysis and decision making, information and communications technology (ICT) is the foundation of defense operations in the 21st century. He said India's vital information and communications technology (ICT) sector, characterized by innovation and ingenuity, is future-ready. According to Majumdar, India has significant capabilities in satellite technologies which are an essential element in defense capabilities today, with the use of information and communications technology (ICT) along with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and unmanned systems to transform defense operations. He further mentioned that the telecom sector, which has expertise in network infrastructure, connectivity solutions and communication technologies, is eminently available to address the complex challenges faced by defense establishments. Additionally, India's proficiency in cyber security is critical in a region where cyber attacks pose a major risk to national security. He said that our Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector offers world-class cyber security solutions ranging from encryption technologies to threat detection systems. TEPC Chairman N G Subramaniam in his address said that India has developed huge capabilities in the field of information and cyber security. Our cyber security experts work tirelessly around the clock to strengthen our defense networks, protecting them from cyber attacks and keeping highly sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands. He further said that our expertise in data analytics and Artificial Intelligence empowers our defense forces with predictive insights and actionable intelligence, thereby enhancing decision making and operational effectiveness. The event was attended by ambassadors of more than 12 CIS and ASEAN countries, representatives of the defense sector, heads of commerce sector. On this occasion, TEPC Director General Shri Arun Gupta presented the vote of thanks. Be aware thatT EPC TEPC was established by the Government of India during the year 2009, within the framework of foreign trade policy, to promote and develop exports of telecommunication equipment and services. The scope of the Council covers the entire telecommunications ecosystem including information and communications technology (ICT) hardware and software, infrastructure products, service provision, systems integration and consultancy services. TEPC effectively caters to diverse stakeholders within the telecommunications sector, including equipment manufacturers, system integrators, service providers and other relevant entities.
