National: In the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Mani Shankar Aiyar made such a statement about China, which created a new controversy. BJP attacked Congress over this statement. After this, not only did Aiyar apologize, but Congress also had to give clarification. Actually, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, while narrating an anecdote during the release of a book in Delhi, said that the Chinese allegedly attacked India in October 1962. BJP's IT department chief Amit Malviya criticized the Congress over Aiyar's comment. He wrote on X, "Mani Shankar Aiyar, while speaking at the FCC during the release of the book Nehru's First Recruits, called the Chinese invasion in 1962 'alleged'.
BJP cornered Congress
He alleged that Nehru gave up India's claim to a permanent seat in the UN Security Council in favour of China, Rahul Gandhi signed a secret MoU, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation took funds from the Chinese embassy and published reports recommending market access for Chinese companies, based on them, Sonia Gandhi's UPA opened the Indian market for Chinese goods, harming MSMEs and now Congress leader Aiyar wants to whitewash the Chinese invasion, after which China has illegally occupied 38,000 square kilometres of Indian territory. What does Congress' love for the Chinese show.
Aiyar apologized, Congress clarified
After the controversy escalated, Aiyar apologized. On the other hand, Congress has also distanced itself from this statement. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that Aiyar later apologized for mistakenly using the word alleged invasion and the party dissociates itself from it. Ramesh said, his (Aiyar's) age should be taken into consideration. Congress distances itself from his original statement. Not only this, he also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of giving a clean chit to China for its intrusion in May 2020.
