Supreme Court rejects Arvind Kejriwal's demand to extend the bail period

New Delhi: The Supreme Court refused to immediately hear the demand of extending the interim bail of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by one more week in the Delhi Excise Scam case. The vacation bench of the Supreme Court also raised questions on the late application. The court said that request for hearing should be made to the Chief Justice. A member of the bench hearing the main case was in the vacation bench last week. Then why did you not put forth the demand? Kejriwal has said that he has a serious illness and his PET-CT scan is to be done. It is noteworthy that on May 10, the Supreme Court had given interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 1 and ordered him to surrender on June 2. The court had granted bail to Kejriwal on the basis of a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and a surety of Rs 50,000. After Kejriwal was denied protection from arrest by the Delhi High Court on March 21, the ED arrested him after questioning late in the evening on the same day.
